3 Things to Consider When Choosing Your Kitchen Tap

3 Things to Consider When Choosing Your Kitchen Tap

You probably don’t realize how many times a day you turn on your kitchen tap, or faucet. It’s a staple in your day to day life and one of the most important features in your kitchen.

The first thing you do in the morning is fill up the kettle for your morning cup of tea. The last thing you do at night is fill up your pint of water before you head off to dreamland. You use it to wash up your dishes, your hands, and to cook tasty meals. Basically, your kitchens taps are your best friends, so you want a quality model when crafting your dream kitchen.

Some homeowners think any faucet will do, but there are a lot of factors that go into what makes your tap either an efficient and reliable tool or a hazard.

We’ve compiled a list of 3 things that you should reflect upon before choosing your shiny new kitchen tap:

1) Budget

Everyone’s price range is different, and so are the prices of taps. You can see kitchen faucets range from as little as $20 to huge prices of $600.

With this being said, it may be tempting to opt for the lower end of the scale in the hopes of saving some extra cash. Everybody wants a bargain and save money wherever possible. However, opting for cheaper deals can end up costing you more money in the long run with repairs and replacements.

According to Rangemaster Taps, it’s best to purchase a mid-price range tap if you are trying to save money and still take home a quality tap. This will ensure a long-enduring and higher quality appliance, meaning you most likely won’t have to call in the repairman any time soon.

2) Functionality

Depending on how much of a kitchen lover you are, the functionality of your tap ideally needs to match your usage:

  • If you love cooking and spending time in the kitchen, a pullout tap may be ideal for you. If you have a deep sink bowl, these designs are perfect. They hang low in the bowl and can be molded and stretched easily to reach the sides of the sink a stationary tap would struggle to get to.
  • Some people just prefer their faucets to be traditional, so opt for classic handles or levers. Whatever the design of your kitchen, just make sure the one you choose is adaptable and suited to your surroundings.

Also factor in the water pressure of your pipes as well – if your tap can’t handle the amount of water that comes out, it won’t last.

3) Style

When it comes to kitchen interiors, many taps have been designed to suit the style of their surroundings. You wouldn’t opt for a pull out minimalistic looking tap in a traditional country kitchen, just like you wouldn’t pick a vintage-looking tap for your ultra-modern, marble-topped kitchen.

Styling is very important when it comes to house interiors. You want everything to feel at home and put together perfectly. It just wouldn’t feel right if you installed a super shiny contemporary tap in your cozy thatched cottage, would it?

Final thoughts

When it comes to choosing your kitchen tap, there’s a lot more to consider than you would have first thought.

Just like any household appliance or restoration, don’t go for a tap just because it’s saving you money, as the low price tag may give you hassle in the future. You won’t be saving money when the repairman comes round. Your trusty tap should be with you years to come, so make sure it looks the part and is built to last!
