5 Brilliant Uses Of Tea Tree Oil

While essential oils might feel like something new and trendy, they’ve actually been around for centuries. Humans have used essential oils to treat health problems since the dawn of civilization. You can think of them as our original medicines. One popular oil today is tea tree oil. Also known as melaleuca oil, this is an oil derived from the leaves of the tea tree native to Australia. Tea tree oil has been used in folk medicine for hundreds of years, and here are 5 brilliant uses of tea tree oil worth trying today.

1. Hand Sanitizer

Are you tired of buying overpriced hand sanitizer at the store? It turns out that tea tree oil is a natural hand sanitizer. There have been numerous studies showing that tea tree oil is effective at killing common bacteria and viruses and it can even fight against E.coli.

How do you use tea tree oil as a hand sanitizer? First, you need a high-quality, safe tea tree oil. Made with Oils has a lot here you can try. Add up to 30 drops of tea tree oil to 8 ounces of pure aloe vera gel. To increase the shelf life, add a teaspoon of Vitamin E oil.

2. Natural Deodorant

Did you know that the chemicals in over-the-counter deodorant might be harmful to your body? With high levels of aluminum in “regular” deodorant products, it’s a smart idea to consider a natural alternative. The antibacterial effects in tea tree oil make it a good option for controlling underarm odor without the chemicals.

3. Fight Acne

Many of the leading beauty gurus are catching on to the magic of tea tree oil, especially when it comes to fighting blemishes. Nobody likes to deal with acne on their body, but it’s hard to treat in most cases.

Tea tree oil can be more effective than regular topical treatments you’ll find at the drugstore. You can find tea tree oil in many of your acne solutions, but you can also make your own treatment by diluting the oil with water and applying it to the skin.

4. Soothe Red Skin

Red, flaky skin is annoying and downright uncomfortable at times. Defeat it once and for all with tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is found to reduce dermatitis (aka red, itchy skin) by 40% in patients. You can combine tea tree oil with olive oil or coconut oil to create a balm to apply to your skin if you’re experiencing redness or irritation. You can also use tea tree oil for cold sores.

5. Stop Dandruff

Last but not least, if you’re dealing with dandruff, or white flakes of skin falling from your scalp, you can treat it with tea tree oil. Using a shampoo that contains tea tree oil has shown to be effective in reducing the effects of dandruff while soothing the scalp.

You can make your own DIY dandruff shampoo but adding a few drops of tea tree oil to a dollop of shampoo. Wash with this solution regularly to notice your symptoms decreasing naturally.

Have You Tried Tea Tree Oil?

There seems to be little that tea tree oil can’t do. With the many uses of tea tree oil, it’s a powerful solution that goes back hundreds of years. The more natural ways we find to treat our common problems, the healthier we’ll be.

Have you tried tea tree oil? If not, it’s time to introduce it into your own health and beauty routine. You don’t know what you might discover.
