5 DIY Projects That Boost Property Value

5 DIY Projects That Boost Property Value

Most homeowners are all for the concept of improving their homes to maximize value. However, home improvement projects are often unaffordable. Not everyone has the massive budget required for a complete kitchen remodel.

Fortunately, there are quite a few DIY projects that are far more affordable. Because doing it yourself means you won’t be spending on labor, it’s often a cheaper approach for those that have the skills.

So, if you have basic handyman skills, the right tools and materials, and you’re looking for ways to increase your property’s value, we’ve listed a few DIY project ideas.

Landscaping

Landscaping is possibly the most affordable home improvement project, even more so if you do it yourself. There are many creative, unique, and practical ways to transform your yard area, from adding outdoor decor statements like water features and large boulders to installing a trough planter to add visual depth. You can also add several planters in various sizes.

Repainting Interior And Exterior Walls

All you’ll need for this project is quality interior and exterior paint, a roller, a brush, and some newspaper or other protective disposable to prevent mess.

A fresh coat of quality paint can do wonders; this will instantly transform the look of a home, both inside and out, and there’s not much skill involved in repainting walls. Moreover, repainting will boost property value by about 5%, and the things you need are all reasonably pocket-friendly.

Updating The Bathroom And Kitchen Fixtures

Updating the finer details can make a massive difference to the overall look of a home. When it comes to fixtures in the kitchen and bathroom, you can replace the light fixtures with more elegant designs, opt for charming door handles and upgrade faucets. Replacing fixtures is affordable, and the simple project will also boost property value.

Upgrading Kitchen Cabinets

Kitchen cabinets draw most of the visual attention in a kitchen area, next to countertops and appliances. With this, you don’t have to replace your cabinets to give them a makeover entirely.

Instead, you can repaint or restain and varnish your existing cabinets for a fresh look. In addition, you can upgrade the handles.

Power Wash The Exterior

It’s easy to understand how a home’s exterior can quickly build up dirt. Driveway pavements eventually darken, exterior walls seem to grow stains over time, and boundary walls can start looking tatty.

Pressure washing can effectively enhance curb appeal. The intense clean will have your driveway looking freshly installed. And while you can opt for a service to handle this for you, you can also rent or purchase a pressure washer and do it yourself. This DIY project will also add to property value by improving curb appeal.

DIY projects are seemingly endless, so there are also many other project options out there. Nevertheless, while investing in DIY improvements can do wonders for the value of your home, you must also prioritize property maintenance. Many of these maintenance tasks can also be handled with a DIY approach.
