5 Tips for Designing Your Kitchen Remodel

A well-loved kitchen brings light and laughter into any home. It’s the main stage for most of your gatherings, and it should be able to reflect the love you are trying to share. When your kitchen starts to feel outdated, or it just doesn’t work for you, then it’s time to think about remodeling it. Before you start to remodel, though, there are lots of elements you need to think about to make sure every penny you put into this remodel is worth it. If you’re thinking about dream kitchen, consider these factors first.

Elements of Your Dream Kitchen Remodel

1. Natural Light

When you redesign your kitchen, you should optimize the natural sunlight that comes into the room during the day.

Wide windows with easily adjustable blinds are the best choice. Think about which direction the sun hits the room from and make sure your design takes advantage of the natural lighting.

If the main source of light for your kitchen is natural light, you can also save by cutting down on your electricity bill.

2. Optimize Your Space

As with all rooms, to get the most out of it, you have to work with its strengths. Not all kitchens are luxuriously big with acres of room!

If you need more storage space, work this into the remodel with elements like folding cupboards that fit into corners.

Plan where furniture, such as the dining table and chairs or bar stools, will go and work around it. If you don’t consider how your furniture will fit in, then the result can end up feeling stifled.

3. Wall Space

When thinking about storage in the kitchen, most people tend to think cupboards and cabinets, but if you are limited on this, then shelving can make a great alternative.

Hanging pot racks are also a fantastic solution if you are limited on space. They help to create a sophisticated look, too.

4. Consult a Professional for your dream kitchen

While you know your kitchen on a personal level and what will work best for you, it is always worth asking for a professional’s perspective and insight. They will have seen hundreds, if not thousands of kitchens, and will be able to use this experience to help you.

An expert from Gilmans Kitchens and Baths can advise you on your design and give you invaluable tips and tricks that you probably would not have discovered on your own.

5. Draft and Draft Again

No one gets the design right on the first try; even if you think you have, there will be parts you have missed that you will need to reconsider. An important project like this will take time, so don’t be afraid to draw up many, many designs before you settle on the one that will work for you and your family.

Remodeling your kitchen gives you the opportunity to gift your home with a new lease of life. Take your time designing, considering all of your options, and you will come up with the best design for your home.

Spread the love
