5 Tips for Picking the Right Mattress for You

5 Tips for Picking the Right Mattress for You

Probably the best way to maintain and improve your well-being is to get a good night’s sleep. Because shopping for mattresses can be a bit challenging, here are five tips tips for picking the right mattress.

By getting a well-deserved rest you are enhancing your immune system, protecting yourself from various health conditions, and improving your energy and productivity levels. However, when you live a busy lifestyle that affects your sleep quality. While there are many remedies how you can fix that, one factor that plays a major role in improving your sleep ability is your mattress.

The truth is without a good-quality mattress, your sleep will eventually suffer. Old and used mattresses can cause chronic pain all over your body and make you feel restless the following day. If you are experiencing these issues, then it is probably time for a new mattress.

Choose the right type and materials

Instead of buying the first mattress you like, it is important that you familiarize yourself with the different types available. Generally, there are five common mattress types you will find in most stores or online and these are innerspring, foam, hybrid, latex, and airbed.

For example, if you live in OC, near LA’s metropolitan area, you can look for Custom Comfort Mattress – the best mattress store in Orange County – where you can explore the different mattress types and see which one will suit you best. They have double-sided mattresses that contain natural materials and are made in the USA. You can even ask the salesperson to tell you how the mattress was constructed and what materials were used to make it, as well as what type of mattress would fit you the best.

Consider your sleep positions

Everyone has a unique way of sleeping, so each individual should also consider their sleeping position when looking for a mattress. In fact, this is the only way to boost comfort levels and avoid aches and pains while getting your rest at night.

For example, if you are a back sleeper, then you need to look for a mattress that provides the right amount of firmness and support, so your body won’t sink or suffer from back pain. One option is the memory foam mattress as it provides adequate contouring to the spine while maintaining proper support and structure.

Consider the mattress firmness

Firmness is another important factor that you should consider when shopping for a mattress. It describes how hard or soft the bed feels, so choosing the right amount of firmness will provide you with the comfort you are looking for.

In general, firmness ranges on a scale from one to ten, with ten being the firmest bed you can find. In most cases, people opt for a medium-firm mattress that ranges between five and seven on the scale as it provides the best blend of support and comfort for most sleepers while relieving pain symptoms and improving sleep quality.

Determine your budget

The price of a mattress can also play a major role in your decision when shopping. Most shoppers typically consider their overall bedroom budget and choose a mattress that falls within their preferred price range. You may also be looking for a mattress for a unique situation, like living or traveling in an RV, in which case you would want to look specifically at the specifics and pricing for the best RV mattresses.

Generally, the price range for mattresses goes from extremely low-cost and low-quality to all the way up to six-figure beds.

However, there are a few rules of thumb you should remember and these are not to go for the cheapest option you find because that may mean lower durability and lower sleep quality and that higher price doesn’t mean higher quality.

Ask for a mattress topper

If your budget doesn’t allow you to purchase a new mattress, you also have the option of getting a mattress topper instead. Although this may not be as effective as a new mattress, it can still be a great alternative to increase your firmness levels.

The topper sits on top of your current bed and goes underneath your bedding. Depending on the type you choose, it can change the feel of your mattress and add contouring, motion isolation, or bounce in relation to your old bed.

When shopping for a mattress topper, make sure you also consider your sleeping position, preferred firmness, materials, and your budget.

Final thoughts

Getting a good night’s sleep is very important for your overall health. In fact, one of the best ways to get the rest you need and deserve is to purchase a high-quality mattress to provide you with the best support and comfort you are looking for. There are several types available, so narrowing down your choices will mainly depend on your needs, preferences, and budget.

To make the right decision, be sure to refer back to our post and consider all of these factors to help you purchase the right mattress for you.
