6 Things To Look Out For When Choosing A Bedding For Your Bedroom

Your bedroom should be your own personal oasis. It’s where you can go to get away from the world and shut out all distractions. You should be able to sink up to your neck in luxurious bedding that makes you feel warm, cozy, and cradled in comfort from head to foot.

Are you still rocking that sheet set from 10 years ago? What about that thin, worn-out comforter that’s starting to fade? If it’s time for an upgrade, read on. Today, we’re sharing six things to consider when choosing bedding for your bedroom!

6 Things To Look Out For When Choosing A Bedding For Your Bedroom

1. Your Personal Style

Above anything else, always lead with your personal preference. At the end of the day, social media influencers and high-profile designers aren’t the ones who will be snuggling up in your bed. You will be, and you deserve to do so in bedding that makes you feel like you!

Read the magazines, scroll the Pinterest feeds, and browse the aisles, but ultimately, allow your inner voice to be the guide.

2. Durability

That bedding set at the discount store might catch your eye, and it could truly be a great deal. However, before you add it to your cart, check the materials. It doesn’t matter how low it’s priced if it will wear out before the season ends.

If you like the feel of cotton, look for 100% Egyptian cotton or Prima cotton, if you can find it. Today, as you can see from Bamboo Harbor, there are also sustainable, ultra-durable bedding materials to consider like bamboo sheets. Yes, premium bedding like this may cost more but you’ll keep the pieces for longer, so the investment is totally worth it.

3. Bedroom Aesthetics

As you shop for bedding, keep the rest of your bedroom in mind.

What color have you painted your walls? Do you have throw pillows, end tables, or other pieces of bedroom furniture you need to design around? You don’t have to go for a matchy-matchy design scheme, but the pieces you choose should blend seamlessly and beautifully into your existing space.

4. Softness

No one wants to curl up in sheets that feel like sandpaper. While it can be hard to truly gauge how soft bedding is in the store (and even harder online), don’t settle for anything less than scrumptiously soft.

Remember that as you wash your bedding more often, certain materials like cotton will get naturally softer with time. If your sheets feel a little stiff as soon as you pull them out of the packaging, this isn’t necessarily a deal-breaker.

5.Weave Type

When it comes to sheets, you’ll have two main weave options: sateen or percale.

Sateen is sleek and satin-like in touch and appearance. It feels smooth and cool on your skin. Alternatively, percale is a basic, tight weave that’s crisper and sturdier. It all comes down to what you prefer, but sateen tends to be a little more comfortable.

6. Size

Sizing your bedding might seem easy, but don’t be fooled by this step. While sets often come in standard sizes, such as king and queen, you should also take your mattress depth into account.

Did you add a fluffy mattress topper to yours? If so, then you’ll need deep sheets that are tall enough to cover the full height. Keep in mind that most bedding shrinks a little when you wash it, so it’s always better to oversize than undersize.

Choose the Perfect Bedding for Your Bedroom

Keep these tips in mind as you shop for your next bedding set! This isn’t a place to cut corners or try to save a ton of money.

If you’re going to invest in any room of your home, make it this one. You spend years of your life asleep in bed, and it’s time to indulge in the type of comfort and luxury you really want.

Prioritize the features above, and drift off to dreamland in confidence!
