6 Tips And Hacks To Help You Upgrade Your Kitchen

6 Tips And Hacks To Help You Upgrade Your Kitchen

The kitchen is one of the most central parts of any home. You spend an awful lot of time there cooking, eating, having drinks, and entertaining guests. It tends to become one of the most used rooms in the house, making it a very important, yet sometimes rather worn room.

The issue with the kitchen being so important is that it can quickly become tired. Surfaces are scratched, handles are loosened, and they can become rather cluttered. If your kitchen is looking a little tired, you may be thinking of quick and easy ways to help you upgrade your kitchen and make it feel fresh again. Below, you will find six awesome tips and hacks to help you upgrade your tired kitchen.

Don’t Break The Bank

Upgrading a kitchen doesn’t have to be expensive work. If you shop properly and do some research, you will be able to find all sorts of deals, vouchers, and sales online to help you out. With so many vouchers for the home available here, you can’t go wrong hunting for kitchenware at a good price. So, if you’re put off by the potential cost of upgrading your kitchen, don’t be! Simply take a look at the following tips and then get hunting for deals. You’ll find that you can upgrade your kitchen in no time at all, without breaking the bank.

1. Open Up Your Walls

Kitchens can often feel claustrophobic and small, even in a modern, light, airy home. The issue is, unlike any other room in the house, the kitchen just requires so much stuff! You probably have cupboards and cabinets full of crockery, glassware, and cooking utensils. These are, of course, required for cooking and entertaining. But, you can help make it feel less cluttered by opening up the walls a little.

If you have lots of cabinets at a high level, consider removing them or opening them up. Getting rid of them and replacing them with simple shelves can make your kitchen feel wider and lighter. Plus, if you have nice cookware, it can look really lovely on display instead of hidden behind countless matching cabinet doors. This is a really simple fix and one that does not require hiring any professionals. Simply remove the doors and repaint the cabinets, giving you open and spacious shelving.

2. Simple Cabinet Upgrades

Sticking with cabinets, you can give your entire kitchen a facelift by simply upgrading your cabinets. For this, you won’t even need to take them down or take them apart. You have a couple of options. Firstly, you could remove the doors and replace them with new, bright, modern doors. Most cabinets are standard in size, so replacing the doors is simply a matter of matching up hinges.

If you don’t want to buy new doors, consider painting your cabinets a light, pastel color. While doing this, remove and recycle old door handles, replacing them with new fittings. Handles are not expensive, neither is paint, so this job can be done easily and cheaply while giving a whole new feel to your kitchen.

6 Tips And Hacks To Help You Upgrade Your Kitchen

3. Modernize The Lighting

Often, people keep the same lighting fixtures in their homes for the entire time they live there. They are just lights, after all, and if they are doing their job, it’s easy to forget that they can become part of the decoration of a room. If you’ve got tired, old light fittings, consider replacing them with some modern-looking lighting solutions.

Kitchens look great with multi-directional spotlights or a central hanging chandelier. There are huge amounts of lighting solutions available, so take some time deciding what you like and what may suit your kitchen. Also, replace bulbs with energy-efficient, bright LEDs, as this will bring so much more light into your kitchen, making it feel bright, light, and clean.

4. Laminate Flooring

Whatever your kitchen looks like at eye level, there’s always the option of changing the flooring, too. Laminate flooring is a simple solution that can bring a whole new lease of life to your room. It’s inexpensive, easy to fit, and comes in so many different designs. If your room is nice and bright, with light-colored cabinets, consider a darker shade of laminate flooring to create a nice contrast. It may seem counterintuitive, but a darker floor can actually make a room look bigger.

5. Upgrade Your Hardware

The faucet, sink, and stovetop are by far the most used items in any home’s kitchen. For this reason, they tend to become stained, loose, and tired-looking quite quickly. Luckily, none of these items are particularly hard or expensive to replace. A brand new chrome sink and faucet can make it look like you’ve just moved in while replacing the rings on your stovetop can make you feel like you’ve got a whole new oven. Again, if you shop for a similar model to what you already have, it’s simply a case of matching the parts up, meaning no large plumbing bills or lengths of time with no running water!

6. Bring Plants Inside

Finally, a super simple and cost-effective solution for any room in the home, plants. Getting some low-maintenance greenery into your kitchen is a lovely way of making a room feel big, airy, and pleasant. Go for succulents or cacti if you want to place them on a windowsill and forget them. Or, if you have a little time to do some weekly maintenance, chili plants or herb gardens can also do great indoors in good sunlight. If you don’t have a huge amount of light, plants like aspidistras or palms can also do great in a kitchen space. They don’t have to be huge, even small plants bring a feeling of life and light into a room.

These six simple tips will help you make your kitchen feel new again, whilst also creating practical upgrades to your kitchen space. Shop smart and you can do all of these things without breaking the bank, making a few quick kitchen upgrades an attainable and achievable plan. It’s amazing what you can do with a lick of paint, some cabinet upgrades, and some plants!
