8 Healthy Natural Homemade Dog Foods To Add To Your Dog’s Diet

8 Healthy Natural Homemade Dog Foods To Add To Your Dog's Diet

When done correctly, nutritious homemade dog food may provide your pet with well-balanced nourishment in addition to their normal dog food. It is especially good for dogs with special dietary needs, such as those with renal or heart disorders, obese dogs, and particularly puppies with liver problems.

Raw or Cooked?

In recent times, the raw pet food diet has grown in favor. This routine, as the name implies, is focused on feeding your pets raw meat, vegetables, and grains – precisely how they would have eaten thousands of years ago.

Even though some veterinarians advocate for this diet, it has several flaws. It all comes down to the possibility of human error. Feeding unprocessed or uncooked animal proteins to your dogs may subject them to possibly harmful bacteria that can cause significant illness. Worse, these germs may be passed to people as well.

To avoid the danger of infection, we recommend fully boiling any pet food you prepare, and to only purchase natural dog food from a trusted and established dog food manufacturer such as Bellfor.

Dog Food Ingredients

The below daily dietary ratios should be included in all canine-friendly meals:

  • 60% proteins (seafood, meat, dairy, insects, or eggs): for muscular development and tissue healing.
  • 30% carbs (veggies or grain products): for stamina and intestinal wellness, however, sensitive dogs may have an intolerance to grains.
  • 10% fat (beef, oil, or egg yolks): for a lustrous coat, strong joints, as well as fat-soluble nutrient intake.
  • Calcium (from broken eggshells or a top-up): essential for bone health.

If you’re confused about how much and what best to feed your four-legged friend, consult with your veterinarian. Below you find some inspiration to occasionally prepare natural homemade dog foods for a balanced diet together with the regular dog food you provide. Please note to not add grains or gluten to your dog’s food, if they have an allergy.
