What Is The Function Of A Stump Grinder?

What Is The Function Of A Stump Grinder

When you have pruned a tree or want to remove it, turn it into small pieces using a stump grinder, it is the right method. It is the easiest and most modern way to eliminate them. If you wish to own this home and gardening machine, you can buy one for yourself. Click here for stump grinder for sale.

Stump grinder

Stump grinders are machines, similar in appearance to a lawnmower and a circular saw with a baby together. The machine is designed to roll up to the stump and grind it into small pieces. The operator will guide the blade on the entire stump, as the blade lessens the wood to chips, and takes the stump down to ground level.

What happens to the tree after stump grinding?

Stump grinding results in slots of wood chips. You will make more of them than what you are thinking. But they can be used as mulch or added to the green waste can. Shovel wood chips in the hole to decompose or import soil and fill the hole.

Kinds of stump grinders

There are lightweight grinder models for small jobs and big, powerful grinders for complex logistics and large stumps. The types of stump grinders may include:

  • Hand-guided or handlebar grinders. It is also known by its other term walk-behind grinder, a small and lightweight kind of stump grinder. The small size makes them portable and they fit in the back of a truck.
  • Wheeled stump grinders. You can be attached to the trailer or truck for travel and uncoupled at the job site and steered into a place.
  • Riding grinder. These are agile like a small tractor or bobcat with the operator controlling the grinder.
  • Skid stump grinders. These grinders are continuous track treads like a tank; these are driven from behind or by the operator riding. It has continuous treads grips big surface areas and is used where the ground is soft. The traditional wheels churn up turf or soil.

A stump grinder attachment can also be added to the skid steer where it is operated by the same arms, guiding its trenching or bucket attachments. As with most powerful equipment, the stump grinders are designed for their purpose.

A stump grinder is not the same as stump removers. A stump remover is auger-like and it bores down to the stump from above and removes all anchoring roots and trunk wood.
