Some Simple Ideas To Spruce Up Your Home’s Front Yard

Some Simple Ideas To Spruce Up Your Home's Front Yard

The front yard is the face of your home, the space that people passing by on the sidewalk or from the road see first. Some people are indifferent to how their front yard looks, they neglect to mow the grass and rake the leaves, and allow the space to become an overgrown mess. But, if you take pride in appearances, or need to increase the curb appeal of your home for resale, then how the front yard looks becomes very important! We will share some ideas to help you spruce up your front yard and put your home’s best face forward!

Fencing

Nothing brings order to chaos faster than putting in a row of attractive fencing. Edge your front yard with attractive and orderly aluminium slat fencing to define your space and prevent the local dogs and kids from trampling your flower beds (we will get to those in a minute!). Sure, we love kids and dogs, but yes, they can be destructive, especially when you have put so much work into upgrading your front yard’s appearance. We like slat fencing because it allows people to view your yard but keeps them to the path as they must enter through the gate, which can be locked during off hours. We also like to choose aluminium for our material because its appearance is identical to traditional painted wood, but it will last for years without requiring any repainting or maintenance, it will stand the test of time and guard your yard while always looking great!

Flower Beds

This is perhaps the best way to give your front yard a facelift without having to spend a lot of money! Start along the inside of the front fence so your blossoms will provide passersby with a gift of colour and fragrance from your heart to theirs, creating delight in your neighbourhood, and sending your curb appeal through the roof! Tall sunflowers that nod over the fence top add country charm, and loads of vivid annuals like violets, petunias, zinnias, geraniums, and poppies fill the lower spaces with their fancifully shaped petals and rainbow of colours. Consider lining the path to your doorway with raised flower beds behind low brick retaining walls to give your front yard a park-like stateliness. Finally, plant flower beds all along the front of your house to complete this bucolic vision of loveliness.

The Lawn

If things have really gotten out of hand you may find it easier to tear the existing briar patch out and start from scratch! Considering Australia’s summers are only growing hotter, choose a draught-resistant species like tall fescue that can handle the heat and still look good in the cooler seasons. For the best results, we recommend that you run the mower over it when it’s just a little bit tall and do so frequently for shapely, lush blades of grass. Make sure to run the sprinklers in the early morning, it will conserve water and prevent the grass from water droplet burn when the bright sun hits it.

We hope this inspires you to make your front yard into a place to be proud of, it’s sure to be the talk of the town!
