How to Create Painted Doll Eyes

Spread the love

Start by drawing out the shape of the eye you wish.
I generally draw out an OVAL first with a circle inside.

Decide what color your want the dolls eyes to be.
I have opted for blue eyes this time.

Take your white paint and fill in the area of the oval. I use a small fine paintbrush for this. Then I take the lightest shade of blue and fill in the circle except for where the pupil will go.

I then take the medium shade of blue and paint some shading onto the light blue. I tend to always do the left side of the eye. I move my paintbrush in almost a “half moon” shape. I then take the darkest blue and repeat the last step.
Sometimes even taking a dark blue pencil crayon and drawing a few lines as shown in the picture.

Take a fine tip paintbrush and now paint the pupil area of the eye black.
Once that dries……. then dip the end of the brush into white paint and dab a small dot to be a reflection/highlight.

You have now painted eyes on to a doll!
With practice……they will become easier and easier.
Alter the size. Alter colors. Play with angles.
Have fun!
