Doggy Dress Up – Is Your Dog Fashion Forward?

Doggy Dress Up – Is Your Dog Fashion Forward

For the fashion favorable person, only a pet capable of playing dress up will do. If you like to keep your dog looking marvelous, then a good haircut and some fashionable clothing will go a long way towards making a fantastic first impression. Put your best paw forward with a trip to the groomers for a pampering session. Afterwards, shopping for your dog should be a fun activity that will help you both to bond.

Where to Buy Doggy Clothing?

You can buy doggy clothing from anywhere from your favorite designer’s online store to the local Walmart. Whether you are shopping for a heavy duty dog harness with handle for a massive mountain dog or whether you want a tiny bow tie for your toy poodle, a good pet store is your safest bet. You can also order from online shops to bag the best bargains on brilliant doggy outfits.

Dog Outfit Must-Haves

Let’s start by naming the items that your fashion forward doggo out to have in its wardrobe. If you want to be ready for all seasons, here is a thorough list of what your dog might want to wear:

  • Pajamas
  • A hoody
  • A waterproof jacket
  • A sun visor if you live somewhere hot.
  • A thick wool jacket if you live somewhere cold.
  • Booties
  • A fashionable scarf.
  • And seasonal outfits.

Let’s go into greater detail on shopping for these doggy clothing essentials.

Doggy PJs

Your dog’s pajamas should be long on the leg. They might contain a cute button-down bum, or a hood to keep them snug at night. The softer they are, the better for the dog. Also, the bigger and scarier the dog, the cuter it looks in pajamas.

Dog Hoody

A dog hoody is the best thing for crisp autumn walks. Team it with booties and you are ready to frolic in the leaves. They can come long or short sleeved, always have a hood, and might even have a cute mono-pocket just like a human hoody.

The Waterproof Jacket and Heavy Wool Jackets

In the true north, doggy jackets are thick, touch wool or waterproof material on the outside, and filled with soft, insulating wool on the inside. This protects your dog against the cold and the wet. The older your dog gets, the more important it is to protect them from extremes in weather. A climate appropriate jacket will shelter their old bones and keep those muscles from cramping.

A good jacket is probably the best item of clothing you can get for your dog, next to the wearable harnesses which help you keep them safe. Spend the money on giving your dog the best chance at comfort as they brave the conditions at your side.

Sun Visors and Hats

On the other hand, if you live in a hot climate, you will want to do two things. One is to keep your dog SPF protected, and the other is to cover the sensitive areas of their face such as their nose and eyes. A sun visor or tiny hat works well for this. Although sometimes they can be hard to keep in their heads.

Booties

If your dog wears socks, this will keep their paw pads nice and clean and germ free. It is a nice way to mark the switch between being outside and coming home from the walk. However, booties don’t just look cute, they have a dual purpose.

In colder climates, the authorities tend to spread salt on the road surfaces to prevent them from icing over. When a dog stands on this salt, which inevitably drifts onto the sidewalk, their little paw pads start to sting. This causes them to slow down, stop, or limp in pain. You must then wash the salt off their feet before the dog recovers. Using booties protects against this… even if they look hilarious walking in them for the first time.

The Fashionable Scarf

OK, so this one is less essential and more about making a statement. If your pooch refuses to wear clothing, a scarf is the easiest item they will tolerate. It can also make a bold statement by doing very little.

What are Seasonal Outfits?

Examples of great seasonal outfits for your dog include things like reindeer ears at Christmas, a pumpkin costume for your pug, a bow tie for easter, or easter bunny ears. Your dog might wear a tie to weddings, or even a mini tuxedo. They could have a hairband to keep their hair out of their ears, or cute accessories like bows and clips.
