Faucet Replacement Expert Tips: 5 Signs Your Faucet Has Issues And How To Solve Them

Working faucets are essential in your home, and worrying about problems regarding these fixtures is normal. These problems usually happen gradually, such that when you notice them, they’ve already blown up and your faucet or two already need a replacement. Thus, it’s best to know the signs of a faulty faucet so that you can have it repaired as soon as possible.

Although faucets are created to last a long time, there are instances when you encounter problems with them even if they’re just relatively new. If you notice the following signs in your faucets, it could be time for a repair or even a replacement:

Buildup

You should routinely check your faucets for signs of mineral buildup. The deposits usually form on the exterior and inside of the fixture. If left untreated, these deposits could ruin the faucet and cause serious damage to your home, requiring a residential faucet replacement.

Faucets are not designed to last forever, but they’re expected to last around 20 years before needing repair. Over time, the buildup of the mineral deposits inside and out of the faucets can lead to rotting, discoloration, and, eventually, breakage. You can avoid these problems by using the correct type of drain and regular cleaning so that the faucets stay clear of mineral buildup.

Water Leaks

One of the usual signs of problems in your faucet is if it’s leaking water, and this problem is most likely to happen if you have a central unit. If you have an older faucet that requires repairs, you may want to call a professional plumber.

Reduced Water Flow Or Water Pressure

You may notice that the water flow or water pressure in your home is reduced. This might be caused by clogged drains in your pipes or your sink drains. If you have both drains clogged with soap and dirty water, you may want to consider replacement of the pipes or sinks, which may be the easiest and least expensive option.

Sometimes, the clog might also be brought by the buildup of minerals and rust in the pipes. To solve this problem, you’ll need to call a plumber who can fix your drain.

If the water flow is slow, you may notice that you’re not getting hot, cold, or steamy water when you turn on the shower. If your shower is not getting the hot water that you want, it may be time to replace your shower head.

Bubbling Sounds

Signs of problems in your faucets include a loud bubbling sound when you turn on the shower, a water odor coming from your shower, or a strange odor coming from the sink. If you notice any of these signs, you may want to consider faucet replacement by a professional plumber.

Rust And Corrosion

Faucets can get dirty easily, and the last thing you want to happen is to deal with unsightly rust and corrosion in your kitchen. Faucets are made of different materials and have different moving parts, so it’s important that they’re durable and long-lasting. While faucet replacement is an acceptable solution in some cases, replacing your fixtures completely could be the better choice, particularly if your plumbing isn’t up to date.

Call A Professional To Solve Faucet Problems

If you’re having trouble with your faucets or water flow, then, it’s best to call a professional plumber. While simple faucet repairs are always an option in some instances, having your faucets replaced completely is, generally, the best option, particularly if your pipes are broken. Replacing your old, worn-out faucets with new, high-quality ones ensures that your pipes remain safe and in good condition for many years to come. Even if you have only a few faucets, a complete faucet replacement will keep your water flowing smoothly for years, making it easier and less costly to clean out.

Faucets also require regular cleaning to ensure that your pipes remain in good condition. Although the job of cleaning out your pipes can seem daunting, it doesn’t need to be. A professional plumber is equipped with the right tools and resources to properly clean out your faucets, pipes, and fixtures, and is trained to use them.

Ideally, it’s important to call a plumber when there are noticeable stains on the walls, floors, and other surfaces that surround the faucets. These types of problems can lead to mold or mildew that may be harmful to your health or of others.

Final Thoughts

While it’s not always possible to fix your faucets yourself right away, it’s important to know that if you wait too long, you may find yourself replacing many of them. A leaky faucet may also cause health problems, thus, it’s important that you have your faucet replaced or repaired by a licensed professional as soon as possible.
