Handmade Decorations For Your Wedding Venue

Thanks to resources like Pinterest and Instagram, there’s no shortage of wedding décor inspiration for the bride-to-be. From winter wonderland landscapes to sophisticated summer soirees, from table settings to wedding invite templates, the modern bride has any aesthetic she can think of right at her fingertips whether you are getting married in Asia or have weddings in Nevada.

But, it can seem as if some of these ideas are so elaborate as to be inaccessible. The good news is you can easily replicate them with a little ingenuity and the right attitude.

Below we share some of our favorite D.I.Y. wedding décor ideas that are fun to make and will be even more satisfying to enjoy come your big day. Read on for more.

Wistful Centerpiece

Right off the bat, we start with a super simple and affordable D.I.Y. project that anyone can pull off. Get a plastic terrarium bowl, fill it with ¾ of water and top it up with three blooming flowers so they float above the crystal clear water as though suspended from the sky.

You can find plastic bowls at any dollar store and for about $2 you can create a unique and dreamy centerpiece.

Upcycled runner

Ask your local hardware store for a piece of aged wood about the length of your wedding dining table. Place it in the middle of the table so that it runs along its length and place your candle holders, flowers, and other decorations to create an elevated 3-dimensional display.

This is a great way to add texture to your dining tables without spending a dime.

Hand-written signs

Keep things personal with hand-written signs placed on reception tables. Not only will this make it easier for people to find seating but those who know your handwriting will feel extra special knowing that you took the time to do this.

A chic D.I.Y. farewell

You want your send-off gifts to be something memorable and unique right? Well, it doesn’t get more personalized than these simple yet stylish D.I.Y. send-off cones. To craft them, all you have to do is buy some patterned cardstock in a color scheme that’s similar to that of your wedding theme.

Create elaborate cones out of the cardstock and fill them with confetti hand-cut from eco-friendly paper, fresh flower petals, and birdseed.

Vintage charm

Are you an old soul with a soft spot for all things vintage? Then you’ll love this handmade décor idea. Spruce up your tablescape with vintage dishes which you can find at any thrift store.

Or, get a bunch of vintage white teacups with red roses from this website to complete your al fresco dining atmosphere.

Leaf menus

Greenery will never go out of style and there are plenty of ways to incorporate nature into your wedding décor setup. Why not create hand-written menus using a paint-pen and display them on large, tropical leaves.

Keep it cool

For summer nuptials, create personalized fans to keep your guests cool. Go online and search for standard white paper fans and draw a personalized design on each one using colorful paint.

Just make sure the paint colors match your wedding aesthetic. You can literally go wild with this one and let your inner artiste shine.

Drape the ceiling

Dress up your venue with elegant white fabric draped from the ceilings. This will instantly elevate your wedding aesthetic and help you create drama without going overboard on the table décor. If you like, you can opt for bright colored fabric instead for more fun and exciting ambiance. Country Wedding Venues are often very creative with draped fabric and matching fabric table cloths to create a chic country wedding setting.

Chalkboard signage

From cafes in Bali to Scandinavian spas, chalkboard signage is growing in popularity and there’s no better time to jump on the trend. The great thing about this trend is that it’s eco-friendly and you don’t even have to buy a chalkboard!

Simply spray-paint an old frame in a color that compliments your wedding décor, drape it with a few vines and chalk away.

Conclusion

Regardless of what your style or wedding aesthetic is, there’s always a way to infuse your own personality to the venue through handmade decorations. Not only will this help you stick to your budget, but creating some of these artsy ideas can be a great way to de-stress while planning your wedding.

It’s worth noting that your wedding venue can also affect the type of décor you use. For instance, there are certain structural limitations that you must adhere to when hosting a wedding in a library as opposed to a purposefully-built Facotry51 wedding venue in Brisbane.

At the center of it all is your personality and the best way to express it is through your décor. We hope this article will get your creative juices flowing and inspire you to create your dream wedding aesthetic.
