How do I Remove Graffiti on my Brick Wall?

How do I Remove Graffiti on my Brick Wall?

Bricks give any home or build an upgrade from the regular flat painted wall and look very chic as part of a privately owned property. Unfortunately, they also fall prey to graffiti and can be a nightmare to clean if it is not done correctly. Brick walls that have an uneven surface and graffiti are one of those things that are even harder to clean from a brick wall because the spray paint can get into every little nook and cranny and leave residual splatter that can leave your wall looking unsightly.

Cleaning bricks

Bricks are porous, and like wood, it absorbs products and chemicals. If you want to preserve the texture of the bricks and not sand them down, you will need to use a deep chemical remover as regular washing won’t work. Power hoses might help to lift some of the stains, but there is a risk of residue once the water has dried. Masonry gel cleaner or strong chemical cleaner would be the only thing to remove this from the wall. It can be a long process, but as long as you use the correct protective gear for yourself and your floors, it should work quickly. Here’s what to do:

  •  Always put on your safety gear (goggles, mask, and gloves) when you are about to work with a chemical that can cause you severe burns.
  • At the top of the wall, apply the paint stripper to the affected area to ensure that it is completely covered. Use a brush to apply small amounts until the entire wall is done.
  • The manufacturing details will let you know precisely how long you need to wait after applying the product, and once the waiting time is over, you can start to scrub down from the top of the wall to the bottom. If there is still paint left, repeat the process, continuing to follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Once all the paint has lifted, you can clean detergent and warm water to wash off all the remaining chemicals and paint to see if the wall needs another coat of remover. The process can take a few coats before it is successful. Remember to continue wearing your protective gear through the removal process.

The process of cleaning a brick wall can be tedious and time-consuming, but it can be done efficiently by a professional service that specializes in graffiti removal in Oxford. They can assist you without running the risk of any endangerment because of the use of chemicals. A professional service provider will also know the best route to preserve the wall and get it cleaned properly. When calling to enquire about the services, you can specify the details of what needs to be done. This way, you can also find out if it’s something that you can do yourself or something that requires professional assistance. Either way, these tips should help you eliminate most of the graffiti as soon as you spot it until you can have the entire wall repainted.
