How to Choose a Duvet Cover

Are you looking to choose a new duvet comforter for your bedroom, but aren’t sure which one to choose? Considering that the bed is the focal point of your room, the right duvet cover can make all of the difference. But choosing the right one can be incredibly difficult. Duvet covers come in all different kinds of colors, materials, and styles.

How do you know which one to pick? Check out this guide to learn how to choose the right duvet cover for your bedroom.

What is a Duvet Cover?

First things first, let’s talk about what a duvet cover is, as many people confuse duvet covers with comforters. Unlike a duvet, a comforter can be used without any cover. A duvet cover, on the other hand, is used to protect your comforter or your duvet.

Comforters tend to be fluffy and thick, and they come in a variety of styles and colors. Some, however, just come in plain white, which is why many people like to place duvet covers over them.

Consider Material

When choosing a duvet cover, the first thing you’ll want to consider is the material. No matter how comfortable your bed is, (if it’s not, you should definitely check out this adjustable bed buying guide) the comfort will mean nothing without the right duvet cover.

The most common duvet cover materials are cotton, silk, and a polyester/cotton blend.

Cotton

The great thing about cotton is that it is soft and comfortable and super easy to maintain. If you’re looking for a no-fuss material, cotton is definitely your best bet. To ensure that your duvet stays protected, you will want to choose a thread count of 300 plus.

Silk

Silk is a great option if you’re looking for something that is both breathable and luxurious. And because silk is made from natural properties, it is great for anyone who lives in a humid climate, as it will keep you warm without making you feel claustrophobic.

Polyester/Cotton Blend

Do you want a resistant fabric that won’t fade or wrinkle over time? If so, a polyester/cotton blend is the right choice for you. Also, polyester is a synthetic material, which means it’s a great option for those who are on a budget.

And, most importantly, if you’re someone who hates wrinkles, polyester/cotton blends are the way to go.

Color

After you decide on the material for your duvet cover, the next thing you want to decide on is the color. When deciding on a color, the biggest thing you’ll want to keep in mind is your personality. If you are someone who changes their mind about design style a lot, then you should stick with a neutral duvet color, as this will give you more flexibility.

Shop all the color and print options of duvet covers of UK and find one that fits your style. If you plan to pick a bedroom design and stick to it, then going with a bolder duvet color is fine.

Consider Pets and Small Children

If you have pets and small children who are going to be jumping into your bed without warning, then you’ll want to make sure you stick to duvet covers that can easily mask stains.

Or make sure to choose one that can be easily washed if a stain occurs. As you can see, there is a lot that goes into choosing the right duvet cover. Please drop us a comment below if you have any questions about selecting the right duvet cover!
