Spread the love

Today I'm going to show you how to create printable tags and cards with Canva. It's a website(online application) for you create all kinds of graphics. You can make printables like I'll show you in this tutorial. Or, you can make graphics for social media, letterhead, posters, and lots more! This tutorial will show how to use Canva to take graphics (likes those in our shop and free tag page) and make your own primitive printable tags and cards.

Before we proceed with the tutorial I wanted to share with you some news from Canva. They now have a business card creation option. Go here https://www.canva.com/create/cards/ to learn more! You make and print your own cards or order printed cards through Canva Print! How neat is that?!

Learn how to use those cute clip art graphics to create primitive tags and cards to use on gifts and handmade crafts using a free editing tool call Canva.

Create Primitive Printable Tags and Cards Tutorial

1. Let's get started!

You need a few things to create primitive printable tags and cards: graphics (like we have in our shop), a computer, and a printer. We also have some free tags you can download.

2. Your Canva Account

Create a free account with Canva. Go to https://canva.com.

3. Start Your Design

Choose custom design and set it for inches, not pixels. I used 8.5 inches x 11 inches so it will match the size of standard paper.

4. Pick the Image Grid

On the left side you will see different design elements. Look for grids and pick one that fits your design size. I chose a grid with 10 image spaces. Click the grid you choose and it will create it on your design area. (Remember any mistakes you make can be changed with the back and redo arrows at the top left of your screen.

5. Upload Your Graphics

Go to the uploads tab and click on upload an image button at the top. Your images will show up in your upload area.

6. Place Your Graphics

Choose one graphic image at a time and click+drag it over to your design area to place in the area of your choice. Canva will auto size the image to fit in the space. Continue to do this until your design sheet is filled. You can see in my example how I place 10 different cards. You can, also, do it with just one design repeated 10 times. Just drag that graphic repeatedly to each image space.

7. Save Your Printable Tag Template Sheet

In the upper right area, name your printable. Also in that area is the download button. Click on it and choose PDF Print, that click download. You can also download as a PNG image file if you prefer. When printing, I choose the fit page option so the page is fitted into the printable area of the paper and nothing gets cut off.

In conclusion, you can always return to your Canva account and edit the printable by choosing in on your saved designs. Or you can copy it to edit a new version, keeping your original, too. I love that about Canva. When you create printables with a photo edit software, after it's saved and close the program, you can't edit the elements of it. It's all flattened into one image.

I hope you find this tutorial helpful. Leave your comments and questions below.
