Important Things to Consider When Choosing a Mattress

Important Things to Consider When Choosing a Mattress

Getting a good night’s sleep is important. In fact, it is one of the best ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle.  The mattress plays a huge role in getting the best sleep possible, which is why you should always do your research before you get one.

Here are 3 important factors to consider when getting a mattress:

The mattress type

There are five main types of mattress structures, foam, hybrid, latex, innerspring, and airbed.  Foam mattresses are designed with foam and no coils.  They provide body contouring, motion isolation, and pressure relief making them great for couples and side sleepers.

Innerspring mattresses are made with a coil-based support system surrounded by other materials. They offer support but don’t have as much pressure relief as foam mattresses. They also have limited motion and are bouncier. Hybrid mattresses are a combination of foam and innerspring support core. They are a blend of innerspring and foam mattresses. Do visit myisense.com to look for high quality similar mattress.

Latex mattresses are designed with latex rubber. They are very durable, offer bounce, and have moderate contouring.  Airbeds are designed with an air chamber that acts as the core support. You can add and remove air to your liking through a remote or cell phone.

Your sleeping position

Do you know your sleeping position?  It is important to choose a mattress based on how you sleep.  Back sleepers place the greatest pressure on their lower back which means they should get a firm mattress for support. Soft mattresses often sink in deeper and this can cause your torso to sink more and create a strain.

If you sleep on your side, you create sharp pressure points on your hips and shoulders. Mattresses that are too soft or too firm can lead to misalignment of your spine.   For this reason, medium soft/firm mattresses may be best for side sleepers. Like back sleepers, stomach sleepers place the most pressure on the spine.  Firm mattresses are best in such cases as they help keep the spine in good shape and prevent suffocation while sleeping. If you find yourself in different positions at different times, go with a mattress based on the sleeping position you use most.

If you don’t have back problems, a mattress with proper support may help prevent those issues. If you do, an unsupportive mattress may make the underlying issues worse. When choosing a mattress for your back pain, you need to consider the nature and position of your pain. For acute back pain, you need an adjustable mattress to help get rid of your pain by adjusting sleeping positions.

Your body type

Body shape and weight also have a major influence on the type of mattress you should get. You need to be choosing a mattress that will provide you with the best support, and comfort overall plus other important features.

If you are around 150 pounds, you are less likely to sink into your mattress especially if it is firm. You need to get a mattress that will give you sufficient contouring but offer pressure relief at the same time. If you weigh 150- 200 pounds you may benefit from a softer mattress. In this case, foam and hybrid mattresses will do.

If you are over 200 pounds, you are more likely to sink into your mattress when you sleep. Heavier people are more at risk of spinal misalignment when they choose the wrong type of mattress. In this case, a responsive mattress is better because it gives more room for movement and molding.  Latex and hybrid mattresses are two great options for people who are in this weight range.  Get a mattress with a thick comfort system and high-density material to reduce wear and tear and get your mattress to last you longer.

Final words

Choosing a mattress is not easy. It is an investment into your sleeping patterns, comfort, and health. This means before you spend any money on a new mattress you have to seriously consider a number of factors. Price ranges for a mattress can be extremely high or low depending on the brand, quality, and materials.  Going for quality mattresses that fit within your budget will save you on cost and can guarantee you proper sleep and comfort.
