Kitchen Renovation Trends 2020

No matter the style or size of your home, you probably don’t like the idea of having a kitchen that is completely closed off from the rest of the living area. You most likely want a kitchen that is a genuine gathering place for the whole family, a place where memories are made and everyone can be a part of that. Gone are the days of old when the kitchen was almost an afterthought, tucked away in a corner with a closed door. Now, whoever is in the kitchen wants to be a part of everything that is going on, keeping an eye on the kids, or simply watching TV.

If you are considering remodeling your kitchen, you may want to tear down a wall to get a true open concept. You may also want to add the latest technologies and update your appliances. You may also want more light and include a skylight or a wider window in your wish list. Before embarking on this project, read on to find out what the latest kitchen renovation trends are for 2020.

Think Color

Your first reaction to the above statement may be Oh, no! Where’s my white kitchen? And that’s ok because white is a classic that will never go out of style. However, this year the trend is leaning towards darker colors. You may have a completely white kitchen and go for a darker accent on the island although the countertop can be the same throughout. And you don’t have to only think of neutral colors, a pop of green or blue works just fine.

Everything Is More Streamlined

The new aesthetic is more streamlined, and this includes not only design but materials and textures. Simple looks and clean lines. To achieve this look, you may want to consider not installing upper cabinets but rather open shelving which will help your kitchen look airier and larger. You may use rough-cut wood for the shelves and metal tubing to hold them. Look down and select tiles that are made from natural stone while backsplashes become more interesting because of their sculpted or beveled edges.

Go for Quartz

Although granite is still a big favorite, these days quartz is growing in popularity because of the ease in taking care of it. With a wide variety of colors and realistic stone patterns, quartz certainly offers you an attractive option.

Smart Kitchen

Take the plunge and go for a fully-smart kitchen. You can have technology integrated into every function. It’s included not only in appliances but in all sorts of gadgets designed to make your life much easier. Smart appliances help you by allowing you to control them through your phone, smart fridges can help you keep a running list of groceries you need to get. You can also easily control the lighting when you want to set the mood.

These days, there are plenty of kitchen design ideas that can incorporate as many or as few of today’s trends as you wish. Your remodeling project should result in a renovated kitchen that fits not only your and your family’s needs but also makes you want to show off your new space. Don’t wait any longer and get in touch with your kitchen contractor to get the project started.
