Life’s a Beach – 5 of the Best Beaches in the USA

Life's a Beach – 5 of the Best Beaches in the USA

If you like nothing more than feeling the sand between your toes, look no further than the USA for a beach holiday. The United States has over 12,000 miles of coastline with some of the most magnificent beaches in the world and here are just a handful of the best.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Myrtle Beach in South Carolina is a beautiful white sandy beach that extends for 60 miles along the Atlantic Ocean.  This stunning location isn’t just great for beach lovers; there really are tons of fun things to do in Myrtle Beach. It offers activities for all ages such as festive events, great restaurants, entertaining shows, and top-notch shopping. If you would like to spend an exciting holiday here, you will be overwhelmed with the choice of luxurious hotels in Myrtle Beach.

South Beach, Miami

Nicknamed SoBe, South Beach in Miami, Florida, is one of the most iconic beaches with its golden sand, palm trees, and streets of pastel-colored Art Deco buildings overlooking it. Beach-goers can enjoy watching the glamorous people frequenting the vibrant bars and restaurants along the beachfront while soaking up the hot Floridian sunshine.

Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts

If you are a romantic soul and want to visit a quaint beach with sailing ships and lighthouses, then Martha’s Vineyard is the destination for you.

This idyllic island is situated south of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and is a favorite holiday destination of the rich and famous. Katama Beach is one of the best spots on the island with its white sand and azure water.

After a day relaxing on the beach, you could enjoy a delicious seafood feast at one of the world-class restaurants on the island or enjoy looking for souvenirs in some of the charming boutiques.

Santa Monica, California

Santa Monica Beach is one of the most famous beaches in the USA. It is 3.5 miles long and runs alongside the Pacific Ocean. It is within walking distance to shops, restaurants, and bars and a short metro ride to downtown Los Angeles.

Halfway along the beach is the Santa Monica Pier, which plays host to attractions such as an aquarium, an amusement park, and various shops and restaurants. South of the pier is the famous Muscle Beach, a park with lots of gym equipment where the body-conscious go to flex their pecks in the midday sun.

Waikiki Beach, Hawaii

No list of the best beaches in the USA would be complete without mentioning Hawaii.

Waikiki beach is probably one of the most famous beaches in the world. It is known for its surfing and the pioneer of Hawaiian surfing, Duke Kahanamoku, an Olympic gold medal champion swimmer. He learned to surf on a traditional Hawaiian board at the age of three and taught his skills throughout the USA.

Why not steep yourself in some history as well as seawater and book a room at the Moana Hotel, which was opened in 1901 and made Hawaii become the popular holiday destination it is today.

If you are a complete beach bum, why not journey right around the coastline of the United States, enjoying the sound of the waves lapping at the shore and crashing on the rocks.
