Awe don’t say you can’t do it! If this waxy woman can you can!
It really is much easier then you think! You’ve made real apple pies right? Well think of it as baking with wax! No expensive molds only a bit of your time!
I’ve been making a wide variety of candles, soaps and crafts most of my adult life! I adore the simpler things in life and what is more simple then Grandma’s apple pie. Here is my secret recipe!
First make sure you have these ingredients!
3 lbs paraffin wax
1 lb soy container wax
3 6 inch wicks
3 ounces apple scented oil ( I also toss in cinnamon and butter cream!)
One 9 inch or so glass pie pan ( you can also use a pie tin if you like! )
Real ground Cinnamon and a few cinnamon sticks
Or Real apple pie spice!
One large cookie sheet
Brown candle coloring block or chip. 1 chip will do ya!
A handful of gel wax…any kind will work! (a big globby handful!)
One round 16 oz ball jar lid ( this is to make home made apple slices!)
Hot glue gun
Fire extinguisher ( just kidding )
What Ya Need to do!
Melt the paraffin wax in your double boiler. ( med low heat..no hurry!)
At the same time melt the soy wax on a very low heat.
While the waxes are melting sprinkle you cookie sheet with TONS of real cinnamon! Then go over the cinnamon with just a dash of the nutmeg and or apple pie spice!
Take your pie pan and hot glue in the 3 wicks. Just space them out nice no
Need to measure! <– Took algebra 3 times in high school!
Make sure the wicks aren’t too close to the edges. You want your
Apple pie to burn nice and even when done!
Ok, Peek at the paraffin wax! How’s it looking? Melty? GOOOOD!
If your Paraffin wax Is all melted then ad 2 ounces of apple scented oil,
1/2 ounce cinnamon scented oil and 1/2 ounce butter cream scented oil!
( angel kiss and sugar cookie will also work!)
Stir it up and sniff! YOU GOTTA SNIFF DA OILS!
Now pour the yummy smelling melted paraffin on your cookie sheet!
Make sure the entire sheet is covered and about 1/2 thick.
This is where it can get tricky. You have to keep an eye on the wax!
If it is too cold you can’t work with it and too hot you will get the dreaded
Wax burns! ( ad butter to your Need list lol )
When the wax is a bit soft and still warm but NOT HOT take your knife
And cut 4 long strips! These strips are your pie crust!
Slowly peel the first strip off the cookie sheet. You will see the beautiful
Realistic baked color that the cinnamon and spices gave it!
Take this long strip to your pie pan and work it around the rim just like you
Would real dough! Have fun with it! Use a fork, make cute designs with your
Fingers whatever you like! Just don’t take too long or your wax will harden.
You probably won’t need all 4 strips to finish your crust.
NOW your pan is totally ready to be filled! Your wicks are in place and your crust Is finished!
Take the left over wax and place it back in the double boiler. This will be used
To make your apple slices!
Ok….RUN …go check your soy! Your soy should be nice and melted by now.
NO need to cool it! Add 1/2 of your brown dye chip and let it melt. Then add 1 ounce of your apple pie oil to the soy and stir!
Now pour the soy into the pie pan. It should just reach the bottom of the crust you made.
At this point I twist the wicks together so they don’t fall over!
Now let the soy set! You need to let it completely cool but while you wait you are ready to make your apple slices!
Go back to your cookie sheet and add a ton more Real cinnamon and a dash of the other spices!
Re pour the melted paraffin wax onto the cookie sheet. You should have enough left to completely cover the sheet and it should be about 1/2 an inch thick.
TIME TO WATCH THE WAX AGAIN! Yes this part Is boring. I have learned that if I call a friend for about 7 minutes the wax is ready lol.
When the wax is warm not hot and workable take your 16oz ball jar lid and make cookies with it!
Stamp it in the wax until you just don’t have any room to stamp more circles!
Take your knife and cut the circles in half. YOU JUST MADE APPLE SLICES!
Peel them off the cookie sheet and place them on some wax paper. I like to play with my Apple slices and mold them a bit. You can even sprinkle more cinnamon on top!
Well you talked to your friend on the phone and made apple slices. The soy pie should Be cooled and ready!
If the soy is completely cold Take your apple slices you just made, cinnamon side UP and place them on the pie just like you would a real pie! Arrange them anyway you like. There is no right or wrong with this candle!
Once your apples are in place GRAB THE GEL WAX!
Slowly melt the gel in a pan on low heat.
Add 1/2 a dye chip! Not too much dye or you will have Dark chocolate. Don’t ask me how I know this LOL!
When your gel is all melted and a nice light brown color ad 1/2 an ounce of
Your apple scented oil!
Your pie is almost done!
Pour the gel over the apple slices you placed on the soy! Looking like a real pie isn’t it?!
Don’t make the gel too thick or it will look fake. Just a nice thin layer of gel covering all the Apples.
Let the gel cool!
OH we are almost done!
Now your pie is ready for homespun ribbon tied around each wick! You can cut or curl your Wicks. I like to curl them it looks way cuter!
This is optional!
You should have left over soy that has cooled…
Crumble it up with a fork and sprinkle all over the top of the pie just like you would Crumbles on a real pie!!! If you like you can ad some of the real cinnamon sticks to the top as a garnish.
OH LOOK AT YOUR PIE YOU MADE THAT LOL!
Now your pie is done and ready for whatever homey touches you would like to ad! A cute grungy hang tag? Some old lace?
You did it! You made a NO MOLD 3 Wick APPLE PIE CANDLE and didn’t burn down the house!
I hope you enjoyed this no mold recipe as much as I did writing it for you!
This seriously makes a beautiful finished product that I have sold for over 30 dollars!
