Nightlife Awakening: Spring Events and Entertainment in Minneapolis

Nightlife Awakening Spring Events and Entertainment in Minneapolis

A lot of tourists come to Minneapolis every year, and most of them are stunned by something that the locals believed was just a fact – the nightlife is far more vivid and fun than they expected. People come to Minneapolis for culture, Nordic cuisine, and sightseeing, but once they see what the city has to offer by night, they see the place in a completely new light.

Now, while clubbing in Minneapolis is alive and well all year round, everything lights up during spring. Here’s what you have to look forward to this spring in Minneapolis and how you can best enjoy its nightlife.

Nightlife and Clubbing are Still Going Strong

Minneapolis has some of the best nightclubs on the continent. While this is not season-exclusive, the clubbing scene in Minneapolis revitalizes itself during spring, when everything goes alive.

While you can go to some of the more classical nightclubs, theme bars are incredibly popular in Minneapolis. Seeing as how this is the city of microbreweries, it’s only natural that the prohibition played a huge part in its history.

One of the best ways to relive one of the most iconic episodes in US history is to visit Pourhouse downtown and see what the experience was like back in the day. Sure, it’s not the same but most would agree that it’s as close as you can get to the vibe in question.

There are also many other places worth visiting, ranging from Ground Zero Nightclub, Club Underground, and Reign Event Center.

The best part about Minneapolis is that it’s a metropolis, which means that you can go clubbing every night instead of having to wait for the weekend.

Regardless if you go here or to some other nightclub in Minneapolis, you have the opportunity to dance away the nigh. Later on, you can finish with late-night fast food (like Juicy Lucy) and head back home first thing in the morning.

10,000 Dreams

When we think of dancing, the majority ofp people immediately think about ballet (perhaps even waltz). However, this is only because, in the Western Hemisphere, we’re programmed to shift to the Western dance by default.

One of the best ways to break this spell is to visit 10,000 Dreams, an event designed to celebrate Asian choreography.

The event starts at 6:30 pm, with an introduction to Asian art and culture. This is one of the biggest concerns that a lot of people have with attending – you don’t have to be an expert to enjoy or understand what’s going on. The very point of the event is to bring this culture closer to those who know nothing about it but are motivated to learn.

The theater door opens at 7:00 PM, and the performance begins half an hour later. The program itself lasts roughly 120 minutes with some intermissions. Still, like always with live programs, the timeline won’t be exact.

This means that you can get a ticket and have something else planned for the rest of the evening (if you hate the idea of just going straight home).

On Sunday, however, the program starts a bit earlier, which means that you can attend even in the early afternoon.

Minnesota Craft Beer Festival

Minnesota is a place where you can enjoy some of the best craft beers any time of the week; however, come the festival, things just get ridiculously out of proportion. First of all, you get about 400 beers from more than 100 breweries from Minnesota and beyond. Second, you get to try the mall in one place.

If you’re interested in learning more, you can always go to the site and check which breweries and which brews will be available. However, unless you’re really good at visualizing the taste based on the description, the only way is to go there and try it out.

Most importantly, you have two approaches. You can either go out there and taste away whatever you like, or you can have a plan of what you’ll try before you go there and leave some for the next year.

One last thing you need to keep in mind is that the cards for every single festival so far have been sold out, which means that the urgency for booking tickets is pretty high.

MSP International Film Festival

Minneapolis and St. Paul International Film Festival is an event that happens every April.

MSP Film Society organizes the event, which is why its members have a slight discount when it comes to the cost of tickets. General Admission is just $15, MSP Film Society Members pay $10, while Students (with a student ID card) can pay as little as $8.

Still, even without the discount, the costs are really not that high.

On the other hand, you can also get an all-access pass, which will give you access to all the regular screenings, premium screenings, priority status in the ticket holder line, etc. While this is a bit more expensive, for those who intend to watch more movies, this might be worth it.

In the past, when cinema was the main entertainment medium in the world, the event itself was huge. Today, while this is no longer the case, it still shines in its full glory, attracting over 150 filmmakers and talent from all across the globe.

The attendance is massive every year, with almost 50 thousand people coming to see these movies.

In the age of censorship, it’s worth mentioning that this was one of the festivals that was never afraid of featuring controversial pieces, regardless of the potential backlash or consequences.

Going out there and seeing something new is the key to personal growth, and exploring new mediums might just be what you need.

Wrap up

The last thing you need to keep in mind is that while some of these events are something that you have to experience at least once, most of them take place every year and are worth repeating. This is especially true for craft beer festivals (since you can’t try it all in just one visit), or film festivals since there’s new content every year. As for the nightclubs… well, every night is different by default. So, the fun never really ends in Minneapolis.
