*One can of Cranberry color paint. I used regular interior paint on this, and then I used regular acrylic paints for the stars.
*Black, mustard, and metallic gold paints.
I sanded the blades up a bit, for paint to adhere better. Being as they are not real wood, I felt this would help. I then painted two coats of the cranberry color onto them, and let them dry over night.
I then made up a template of the star, and painted them on with a sponge brush. One of those cheap ones! I used 2 coats.
After they dried, I dry brushed some of the mustard mixed with a little bit of brown for a layering effect.
I then dry brushed the outer edges, with black, a little dark to highlight the stars. Then to add sheen, I brushed over the entire area with the metallic gold.
Then I just put a layer of ACRYLIC stain to darken them just a tad.
There are some things I would like to try on the next batch. My whole house has 10 fans altogether, so I am going to be really busy! I use my design studio to play around with things first. Then use it in the house as I learn what I like best! I hope this gives you an idea for use in your home!
