Whether it’s on your bucket list or you just enjoy visiting beautiful and interesting places, I recommend you include these must-see places in Tokyo. Having visited Tokyo myself, I highly recommend it. There is so much to do, one trip won’t be enough. Luckily, we are now able to travel freely since restrictions to countries such as Japan have been lifted. You can plan an upcoming trip and more trips in the future.
You will need to fill out your application, leaving enough time to allow for any issues with it as your trip to see the Olympics in Tokyo is the opportunity of a lifetime, so you don’t want to miss out! One of the most common problems with a passport application is the photo that is provided with it. To avoid these problems, you can use an online passport photo maker or Pixelied’s passport photo tool to guarantee your picture will be accepted.
Once you have your necessary documentation prepared, you can start to look forward to the rest of your trip. We’ve highlighted some of the top things to do while you’re in Tokyo that you don’t want to miss out on. Take a look below:
Senso-Ji
Senso-ji is a beautiful temple at the end of a retail street. There is a cauldron around which visitors congregate as the incense therein is said to promote good health. There is also a Shinto shrine in the vicinity
Tokyo National Museum
As Japan’s oldest museum this is a real national treasure and is situated in a public park that also houses temples, ponds, shrines, and over a thousand cherry blossom trees (which bloom in the spring). The museum has the largest and most comprehensive collection of Japanese art but not all can be on display. There are 110,000 artifacts that are displayed at different times in the various buildings
Ryoguku Kokugikan
No trip to Japan is complete without watching Sumo wrestling, and there’s nowhere better than at Ryoguku Kokugikan. Tournaments last a couple of weeks and are attended by 11,000 spectators at this incredible stadium
Tokyo Skytree
Head to the top of the tallest tower in the world and the second tallest structure after the Burj Khalifa, Tokyo Skytree. It’s 2,080 feet tall and has 360-degree observation decks giving a view of the city that you won’t get anywhere else.
Origami Kaikan
As the home of origami, a visit to Origami Kaikan will astound you. There is origami art to enjoy a shop, and you can even take part in classes to learn this ancient craft so you can take some of your knowledge homes with you perhaps with an iconic crane.
Yakatabune Harumiya
Enjoy dinner against the backdrop of this beautiful city with a traditional Yakatabune Harumiya river cruise on a roof-topped boat. This is an ancient tradition, and this century-old company is one of the best at offering this cultural experience with a difference. You’ll enjoy a delicious meal that might include hot tempura or fresh sashimi all against an ever-changing backdrop.
