Signs You Have A Plumbing Emergency

Signs You Have A Plumbing Emergency

Is that dripping tap in need of urgent repair? Or can it wait a few days? As well as being an area that few people know about, plumbing can, on the whole, be confusing. Plumbing emergencies are spoken about freely on TV and in movies, but when you own your home, deciphering one from a routine issue can be trickier than you think.

So, how do you know when you have a plumbing emergency? Here is a quick guide!

Burst or Leaking Pipes

When you notice water gushing from a pipe, this is a clear sign that the pipe has become damaged and will need to be repaired. So, you will need to look for residential plumbers near me on a search engine as soon as you can to prevent water damage in your home, as well as the growth of mold and damage to other items that are near the leak if you can, try to contain the burst or leaking pipes but do not try to fix them yourself, as this can make the issue worse.

Sewage Backing Up

Nobody wants to smell sewage in their own home, so if you notice an incredibly foul odor coming from your sinks or your toilet, as well as the visual appearance of sewage backing up the pipes, then you need to call a plumber as soon as possible. This poses a real health hazard and can signify an extreme blockage in the pipe or an issue with the sewage line on your street. So, either way, it’s best to alert somebody who can help you as soon as possible.

There’s No Water!

It is something of a comical image; you turn on a tap faucet, only for nothing to come out. However, unsurprisingly, this is a plumbing emergency that can be caused by an issue with the pipes from the boiler or a more significant issue with the piping itself and the water supply. Either way, if your neighbors and the surrounding area are not suffering from this issue, then you should call an emergency plumber to your home.

Bad Odors

If you have persistent bad odors coming from your sinks, then this can signify a plumbing emergency.

Specifically, it can point to an issue with the sewer line that is near your house, or it could point to an accumulation of grease fat or other debris in the pipes which are causing blockages. So, if you are fed up with trying to pour bleach and other disinfectants down your drains to eradicate a smell, it’s worth noting that this can easily be addressed and remedied by a plumber. Therefore, be sure to call one before the smell becomes intolerable.

Water Heater Issues

Is your boiler or water heater making concerning noises?

If this is the case, as well as inconsistent hot water, then this can point to an issue with the water heater. While it may not seem as pressing as some of the other issues listed here, it is, indeed, a plumbing emergency. Why? Because a water heater that is malfunctioning can cause problems to the property, especially if it is leaking. So, be sure to call a plumber if you suspect an issue with your water heater.
