The Importance of Preschool in Education

Are you debating whether or not you should send your child to preschool?

Many parents decide to send their children to preschool for various reasons. For example, they may want their child to socialize with kids his/her age, do arts and crafts, or just have fun. However, preschool actually plays a huge role in your child’s education.

How so? Read on to find out!

Why is Preschool Important in Education?

It’s Where Children Learn the Most

Studies show that 90% of a child’s brain develops by the age of five! Therefore, children will never be more susceptible to learning new things than when they are preschool-aged. In fact, children who participate in a pre-kindergarten program are actually shown to have improved cognitive skills.

Because children are learning so much when they are about two to four years old, it’s important they receive quality education during this time. The best way for children to get that instruction is with Thrive preschool program.

While you may be able to teach your child important lessons at home, preschool presents an opportunity for children to learn with other kids and with experienced teachers. In addition, preschools often have more equipment for playing, doing crafts, and doing certain activities.

It Gives Kids a Head Start

Because preschool allows kids to start learning before they get to kindergarten, preschool programs can actually help kids get ahead academically.

For example, children may get ahead in subjects like reading, math, science, and language. Most preschools teach children the alphabet, their numbers, and more. Some preschools will even help preschoolers learn sight words or do fun science experiments. They use fun worksheets for kindergarten to make learning easier and fun for these kids.

Therefore, by the time your child reaches kindergarten, s/he will probably be ahead of the other students!

Children are More Likely to Succeed Later in School

According to the Urban Child Institute, children who are prepared to enter kindergarten are more likely to have academic success later on and it reduces the risk of learning delays.

In other words, when children start off ahead in kindergarten, they are more likely to stay ahead when they enter elementary, middle, and even high school!

Creative Learning

Studies show that creativity isn’t localized to one area of the brain. In fact, creativity involves your whole brain working together. Therefore, creativity and cognition are linked.

When you participate in creative tasks, you can actually improve your mental health and critical thinking abilities.

When children participate in arts and crafts, singing songs, dancing, and playing games in preschool, it can actually enhance your child’s cognitive development.

In other words, a creative mind means they can learn academic subjects easier!

Is Your Child Enrolled in a Quality Preschool?

It’s important you don’t just enroll your child in any preschool. You need to do research on the school to make sure the facilities are clean and safe, the teachers are caring and experienced, and the program will educate your child.

For example, if you are looking for a private preschool in Phoenix, be sure to do a Google search of schools in the area, read parent reviews, and tour the facilities. This way, you end up paying for your child to attend a quality school where you know your child will be happy, healthy, and thriving!
