Thanks to the virus Halloween is going to be a little bit different this year and it will be a more dangerous one than ever before. But, you can still have a blast this Halloween, you just need to take a few extra precautions. Here are a few tips on how to have a safe Halloween this year.
Have a Movie Marathon
The absolute best thing you can do to safely celebrate Halloween this year is to stay home and watch some Halloween movies. Create your own Halloween film festival and show movies for all ages throughout the day with breaks for food and exercise. Start out your day with movies that are safe for the little ones like Nightmare Before Christmas, Hocus Pocus, Charlie Brown Halloween Special, and Beetlejuice. Once the kids go to bed have a movie or two picked for the grown-ups to enjoy as well. Don’t worry about screen time, this is a special occasion.
Hand Out Candy Safely
If you are going to hand out candy do so in a way that is safe for you and everyone in your house. The best way to do that is to hand out the candy from your driveway. Set up a table in your driveway with the candy laid out in an orderly way so that none of them touch. Then sit at least 6 feet away where you can watch as kids come and trick or treat you.
Avoid Indoor Parties
This year is not a good year to go to indoor parties. There are just far too many opportunities for the virus to infect you. In fact, going to an indoor party is pretty much the riskiest way to spend Halloween. Instead, go for a small outdoor party or opt for a zoom party. It may not be as fun as years gone by, but at least you know you’ll be safe. Package treats to keep them germs to a minimum. Play games that allow for lots of fun without close contact.
Trick or Treat Safely
If you do decide to take your kids out trick or treating make sure that you’re doing it in a way that keeps you and your kids safe. I actually have an entire article covering how to trick or treat safely during these virus times, so if you’d like to know more about how to trick or treat safely head on over there and give it a read.
Wear a Mask and Use Hand Sanitizer
If you are going to be around people that don’t live in your house for any reason remember to keep wearing a mask and use hand sanitizer frequently. The virus doesn’t care that it is Halloween. All it sees is an opportunity for it to infect new people and it will be aggressive in its attempts to spread. You need to do everything you can to make sure it can’t get you and that begins and ends with wearing a mask and washing your hands/using hand sanitizer.
If everyone follows these steps we can all have a fun and safe Halloween this year. Whatever you decide to do for Halloween 2020 stay safe and remember to wash those hands.
