Using Live Chat for Lead Generation

Using Live Chat for Lead Generation

When generating leads is your main focus, it can be important to use a diverse range of tools rather than just the same techniques over and over again. The recent increase in the popularity of live chat services and platforms has made it an ideal lead generation tool, but only if you approach it from the right angle.

Being able to connect with visitors so quickly and directly can make a big difference – but how can you use it to generate more leads?

Automated Greetings

Using a live chatbot on a site can allow you to greet visitors and send them into an automated conversation, one that can guide them to particular pages or services without human input. Even if only 5% of your visitors ever use it, it might help you secure them as interested leads.

These automated bots can also be great for businesses that serve customers internationally but only have a single local office. Rather than having to keep somebody up on a night shift, you can have the bot provide basic live chat functions during the night or on weekends.

Instant Communication with Customers

A live chatbot or live chat platform could also help improve the conversion rate of sales leads because it means users will be able to communicate with a real person who is able to answer their questions or provide them with relevant information.

Even if you don’t make a sale in the process, these visitors can still be valuable. They might help you understand how people are researching your product or the kinds of customers you’re getting, thus helping you identify how you can target more valuable leads in the future.

Re-Engaging Visitors

Some live chat systems can be set up to auto-prompt visitors who haven’t moved from their current page in a while. If accompanied by a sound that they can hear while looking at other browser tabs, this could be an ideal way to get their attention and bring them back to whatever product they were looking at.

If a visitor wasn’t planning to buy anyway, this won’t have any negative impact. If they were, it might help re-engage them if they get distracted by something else or allow you to open up a conversation with them that could push them into becoming interested leads.

Providing Offers

If all else fails, it is possible to mention offers and deals to customers via live chat popups. Whether done manually or (far more likely) automatically, this can be a great way to get their attention or alert them to a deal that they might have missed otherwise – helping you push them toward whatever products you want them to notice.

This is a simple but effective form of lead generation live chat can provide. While it can take a while to get chat set up properly, the end result is something very versatile that can fulfill a range of roles without needing any major changes. Once live chat is in place, you have a lot of different ways to use it for gaining more leads.
