What Makes an Aesthetically Pleasing Store?

What Makes an Aesthetically Pleasing Store?

There’s no denying that creating an attractive retail store can be difficult. There are so many factors to take into consideration that it’s easy to get overwhelmed.

However, before you throw in the towel, it’s essential to take a breath and think about your options carefully. By breaking down the process into sections, you’ll find it is possible to develop a beautifully designed space.

Below, we will talk about some of the different factors of an aesthetically pleasing store to help with your journey.

Brand Image (Consistency)

Despite what you may believe, one of the most critical aspects of a visually appealing store is the brand image. The more consistent you are with your design, the more put together everything will look.

We aren’t just talking about your signage either. Furniture should fit into your brand color scheme, and you can even order custom canvas prints to keep décor fluent throughout.

Shelf Spacing

If you have products on display, following shelf spacing is essential. Items that are perfectly organized will look much better than those simply thrown on a shelf.

As a general rule, try and keep a gap of around two fingers between the shelves and each item for easy access. It’s also best to place heavier items at the bottom and lighter items higher up.

Clear Signage

There’s nothing worse than going into a shop and not being able to find what you need. Clear signage looks excellent and will save your customers (and your staff) a lot of trouble, especially during busy seasons.

Don’t forget to announce deals appropriately too. Displaying information about sales clearly will create a sense of urgency and attract potential customers into your store.

Lighting and Scent

Customers want to see the items they are looking at, so when designing your store, don’t forget to think carefully about the lighting. While things should be bright enough, you don’t want to use unflattering colors.

The scent is also important and can significantly impact the atmosphere around you. If you sell candles or other scented items, use them to your advantage!

Music

Finally, while you may not think that people are paying attention to what is playing over the speakers, you would be surprised. Like light and scent, music can dramatically change the mood around you.

It can keep your customers calm, pump them up, and even encourage individuals to stay inside your store longer. If you choose your tracks wisely, you can even have them link to your overall brand image, which we mentioned above.

Final Words

As you can see, there are many different things that can contribute to an aesthetically pleasing store. So, whether you are a new or old business, it’s worth reassessing your plan and making sure you tick off all of the above. It might just push you in the direction of success!
