What to Expect from a Hair Transplant

What to Expect from a Hair Transplant

Your hair is one of the most important parts of your identity.

So what do you do when you start to lose your hair? Sadly, this is a common experience for many people. And until as of late, there was very little that could be done about it.

However, thanks to the brilliant work that Dr. Pak and his team do in regards to hair transplant procedures, that has all changed. Now there are multiple procedures that can be done to restore your hair and give you back that crucial part of your identity.

A hair transplant surgery is now a very common procedure that people all around the world are signing up to do. If you are someone that wants to consider getting a hair transplant procedure done, it is important to understand the process up front so you can best prepare for it. If this doesn’t sound right for you, there are other options available that may help you regain your confidence, such as products that encourage hair growth; check out this link for hair growth products for african americans.

To help guide you on your journey to reclaiming your hair, we’ve put together our top tips on what to expect from a hair transplant so you can go through it confidently and well prepared.

  1. The hair transplant procedure will use your own hair

Unlike other transplant procedures, you won’t be getting a donor’s hair for the transplant. Instead, you’ll be donating hair from another part of your body to the area on your scalp that needs it. This is done through a procedure known as FUE and takes individual hair follicles and places them through microscopic incisions. It is one of the most popular procedures that is done today.

  1. You may need to give up smoking or drinking for the procedure

Just like any other surgery, you will need to avoid smoking or drinking in the pre and post-days of the procedure. This is a standard safety measure that ensures your hair transplant procedure goes off without a hitch!

  1. You can get the procedure with minimal scarring

Nowadays, the procedure is so well advanced that you can come out of it with minimal to no scarring. This is super exciting and is yet another reason to consider getting it. Instead of a scar, you will get tiny scabs that within a week or so will heal. The real trick is to properly care for your scalp the days following the procedure—and being diligent with ensuring you put enough moisturizer on your scabs. And you’ll need to avoid washing your hair for at least the first three days following the procedure itself.

  1. The recovery is quicker than you might expect

Nowadays the recovery from a hair transplant is much faster than you might expect. Within the first couple of days, you can see drastic results with the healing process. There may be some swelling or slight discomfort the first few days, but by day three you should feel a real difference. You will also be given a special hat to wear after the procedure to provide extra protection from external threats like dust and sunlight.

  1. Your hair will fall out

This part is often the most surprising, but it is normal for the hair to fall out after the procedure. Within the first three to four months is when you will see a real difference with hair growth. While everyone is different in terms of the actual results of their recovery, one consistent thing is that a hair transplant procedure results in thicker hair than before and an increased level of confidence!

These five tips are just a few things to prepare you for the hair transplant procedure that will give you a full head of hair and a whole lot of confidence! While everyone will have a different experience, these general things are something everyone can expect.
