How to Choose the Best Ink and Toner for Your Printer

How to Choose the Best Ink and Toner for Your Printer

If you have a home office, you might be burning through stacks of ink and cartridges… and that can get pretty pricey!  You might already have your printer all picked out, but with all the different options of ink and toner available out there, it can be confusing knowing which to buy.

Here is our guide on how to choose the best ink and toner for your printer. We’ve included some great, money-saving tips along the way, so don’t miss them! Also if you have new and unused ink toners, you can visit Sell Toner and make money out of it.

Discount Ink & Cartridges

If you need to buy new toner of ink for your printer, don’t pay the full price! By shopping with an online coupon code, you can enjoy massive discounts on ink, toner, paper, and other supplies for your printer.

Where can you get these coupons? By finding an online savings retailer that hand-verifies each coupon for you. With this discount from Custom Ink, you can save 10% on your next purchase from Custom Ink.

Types of printers

First, you must consider what type of printer you have since different printers all require different ink cartridges and toners. The type of printer you choose will not only determine the ink and toner you need but the type of printing you can do as well.

Inkjet Printers

Inkjet printers are considered better for small printing jobs or when the image resolution is important to you. They produce exceptionally clear and bright photos that hold color well. If you print lots of black and white text, laser printers are the better choice.

Inkjet ink comes in both black and colored cartridges. You usually have to buy both to keep your printer functioning, even if you don’t intend to use one or the other. Before purchasing inkjet ink, always check your printer’s manual to see what kind of ink cartridges are required.

Although the price varies, inkjet ink usually costs from $13 an ounce to a whopping $75 per ounce depending on the brand. If that seems rather pricey, remember that there are lots of ways that you can reduce your home printing costs.

Laser Printers

Laser printers are best when you have to print high volumes of text-covered papers. If you often need to print color photos, it might be better to get an inkjet that can do both.

Laser printers rely on toner in order to print. While toner may seem expensive up front, you will actually save in the long run on high-volume prints. You’ll also enjoy faster printing and you won’t face problems with your text bleeding on the page.

Specialized Cartridges

There are lots of specialized cartridges available on the market and they are mainly used to print high-quality photos and pictures.

Check with the make and model of your printer before purchasing these special cartridges. These cartridges are of high quality and therefore expensive, so you want to make sure your printer can actually use them before purchasing.

So which should you choose?

If you’re still on the fence between an inkjet or laser printer, here are the pros and cons of both:

  • Inkjet printers are cheaper upfront, but laser printers will save you money in the long run if you do a lot of high-volume printing.
  • Inkjets are significantly slower. If printing fast is important to you, opt for a laser printer.
  • If you print text-only black and white pages, laser printers are better. If you want to print high-quality pictures of photos, go for an inkjet printer.

If you prefer a quiet office environment, choose an inkjet printer. Laser printers can be quite noisy!
